Education Committee

The role of the Education Committee is to promote awareness, disseminate information and develop understanding among junior members in the field of herpetology.

Members often work with schools and other organisations, attend shows and put on displays to promote awareness on the conservation and biology of reptiles and amphibians.

The Education Committee also runs the Young Herpetologists (YH) – a section of the BHS dedicated to junior members. The continued inflow of younger members is important to the future of the society and herpetology in general – they are the herpetologists of tomorrow!

Members of the YH receive a dedicated quarterly newsletter and are also entitled to receive some BHS publications at reduced subscription rates. Additionally, the YH organises events around the country to meet the interests of junior members – such as `behind the scenes’ visits to zoos and wildlife parks.

We will be developing a dedicated YH section of the site with plenty of news, activities and information on how you can help contribute to conservation and research of reptiles and amphibians in a changing world. Check back regularly or contact the Education Committee Chair by email or phone:
